Cosfest VII (2008): Super Henshin Day 2

Since I’m lazy, and didn’t stay all the way, I’ll just post up a couple of the prettier ones. I’ll leave the proper posting to pyoro, who i went with, and who had the full energy to stay all the way. hoho. The rest of my photos, as well as full sized versions can be caught here.

Went for cosfest at downtown east today. I think I’m getting too old for this. Cosfest is also getting too popular. The crowd was amazing. Good and bad depending on how you look at it. For me? I’d rather pay a nominal entrance fee, and have a smaller crowd. Easier to interact with the cosplayers like that. A lot of time, the contestants were also busy preparing for their performance. A pity. aha.

The only person that caught my attention was a very cute haruhi. Very young as well. But very cute. *roar*

Stayed there for around 4 hours, which was already too much for me already. There’s only so much people that I want to squeeze with. Not too many good cosplayers to look at either. Maybe mostly because I could only see the crowd. zzzz. getting too old. I thought Day 1 seemed to have more familiar faces and much better cosplayers. ah wellz.

Cute photos after the break

Singapore Toys and Comics Convention

2008 June 29
by Pyoro

So I was over at the Singapore toys and comics convention like all other avid toy and manga enthusiasts. It’s pretty awesome we have something like this once in a while just to liven up our lives otherwise spent in solitude hurhur.

Nintendo was there in full blast with it’s WiiFit showcase as well as a few DS games, including the unreleased guitar hero world tour which was surprising. If ya haven’t seen that god awful DS ad, check this out on gametrailers. The wiifit booths drawn the most crowd, with kids lining up to try out that hulla hoop or soccer ball heading whatever. Having seen the wiifit balance board for the first time, I must say it’s pretty easy to cheat on it. I have seen kids get away from just wiggling their body bleh.

Team Fortress 2 Meet the Sniper

2008 June 18
by Pyoro

All right, ever since tsubaki from add introduced tf2 on his blog, i have been quite the enthusiast, clocking a few hours each day for the egames servers. It is really great too that valve is continuing to keep the game fresh for old timers by releasing updates for the myriad of classes. They just recently announced a massive update for the pyro class, a seemingly underpowered class due to his short range flamethrower. The downside is the influx of hordes of pyros when the update comes this coming thursday.

Anyway, Valve has just recently released the new Meet the Sniper video, just one of the many hilarious Meet the “class” series with its ostensible puns and wicked sense of humour.

Kudos to Valve for making an effort towards battling piracy and making this game worth our buck!
By the way, ya can find me with the moniker Pyoro over at the Starhub or Egames server. A word of caution, i suck at it…

Devil May Cry 4 (PC) Demo First Impressions

2008 June 6
by Pyoro

Woot I have just playtested the recently released Devil May Cry 4 demo for the PC and I must say it’s quite a blast. You start out with two modes. The first of which is Exterminator, where you are allocated ten minutes to play through a single mission, presumably the one after the attack on the cathedral. Now, depending on how fast you get through the mission, you can possibly complete the entire mission in a single play through. This mode basically showcases the gameplay mechanics of Nero and the Devil Bringer, a demon arm nero uses to make mince meat out of his enemies. If you have played the previous games in the series, then you will fit right into dmc4. You get trapped in an area, whacked off a couple of poor foes, barrier disappears and repeat process. It is a formula that has been the hallmark of the dmc series, although it is showing its age, with games like ninja gaiden and god of war upping the stakes with far more innovative gameplay mechanics and compelling stories.

Metal Gear Solid – Retrospective Part 1

2008 June 6
by Pyoro

I will be starting a retrospective on metal gear solid in view of the impending release of the awesomeness that is mgs4 on the 12th of June, which coincidentally happens to be 10 years after the release of the original MGS on the PSX.

I started out playing the original mgs on the PC (yes I didn’t have a playstation damm). It was by far the most exhilarating game I ever played at that time, ok maybe except for ff7 but I digress.
