Experimented with a photoshoot of a figurine I bought from Urban Attic recently. Didn’t turn out too well, but it did let me play around with my camera which I hardly do. Maybe more patience and better technique next time.

The box comes in a tantalising design, covering what she’s wearing. (more reasons later)

It’s Aka with her studio headphones, dressed in a bathrobe. She stands on one leg on a custom base.

No fears of leaning (i hope) though… support stand provided. (it’s not possible for her to stand WITHOUT the stand)

Yup, the bathrobe can be removed, thus the design of the box. My bathrobe didn’t join very well as a result though. No such photos without the bathrobe though!

More photos from the front, + a comparison with a 1/8 yakumo to compare the size.

Thoughts

The bathrobe is a mixture of white and light pink. Is that good or bad? I can’t decide. I thought it gave a pretty faded look, like it’s been in the sun for too long.

There were also some defects at the hair too. Did I mention, this is my first 1/6 figure. Maybe I’m not used to it, with excessive details… but I thought the figure had a few areas which weren’t done too well.

But hey, I loved Aka from Rec. haha. Kinda bought this on an impulse. I already bookmarked the figure on HLJ, but hadn’t quite decided to buy it yet. Then urban attic‘s mailing list showed that it’s out, so what the heck, I ordered it.

Just as well, cause all 3 copies at urban attic were snapped up within a day, and I got the last one. This was a surprise, since I expected Rec to be a pretty obscure anime series. First 1/6 figure, a little out of place with my other 1/8 figurines. The price was a little out of place with my budget too.

Bought from Urban Attic for S$ 119, which is a few dollars more if I ordered from HLJ and shipped by EMS. -shrugs- HLJ still has stock if you’re interested.

Now I wonder if i can complete Urban Attic‘s stamp card. So many stamps needed. Anybody wanna help? haha.

I’ve always liked REC. A different 15 min style of presentation, and always chirpy and though it’s only 15 min, it doesn’t feel too short. Loved the design of AKA, and her voice. (really suitable for an anime with a seiyuu as a main character)

This is a DVD only episode, inserted between ep 7 and 8, bumping the rest of the episodes up by one. A recap. In ep 7, Aka and Fumihiko have just made up and gotten back to living together. But in ep 8, frustrations of Aka’s success and his own failures, and being stood up over work, Fumihiko ends up ruining things and they end up seperating

Aka and Fumihiko go out for dinner, at the place where they first met and had dinner together. There, they meet Tanaka, who just broke up with her bf. She drags Fumihiko to drink. Aka looks absolutely hilarious when filled with jealousy. haha.

Fumihiko ends up bringing Tanaka home, and spending the night over, inciting more jealousy. But the next day, at Fumihiko’s office, Aka is waiting with a change of clothes. But that night, Tanaka drags Fumihiko to drink again, at least this time round, Fumihiko brings Tanaka back to his own home, where Aka is around.

Very funny and ‘cheerful’ episode. I’m glad that aka didn’t act like a jerk that Fumihiko was in the next episode, letting his jealousy take control. All in all, another fun and enjoyable 15 min.
