Set in the year 2082, Oban Star Racers chronicles the fastest star-racing heroes from all across the universe as they compete in the Great Race of Oban, which happens once
every 10,000 years and rewards the winner with the Ultimate Prize, a mysterious gift that may grant the fondest wish of the racer. Now a great range of participants, including
Earth’s unlikely team leader, rebellious teen Molly, will challenge each other for a new life of tough training, death defying racers and thrilling adventure.

Based on the original short, which received the 2001 LEAF (London Effects and Animation Festival) Award, Oban Star Racers is a co-production of Jetix Europe and Sav! The World Productions.

I kind of read great things about this anime in the newspapers. It’s an ‘anime’ produced together by a french and jap animation company.

My impression? Nothing special yet, although I guess i’ll catch it for a few more episodes before making a final conclusion. The character design is quite kiddish, as in, the target group seems quite young, for kids. THe background 3-D animation doesn’t seem special either. I think animes like Full Metal Panic do it a lot better.

Watched star wars pod races? I get the similar feel from this show thus far from ep 1 and 2.
