To Love-Ru – ep 03

For some reason, the series continues to focus entirely on Lala, with all fanservice coming from her as well. Quick introduction to Lala in school, followed by a quick trip to the aquarium, everything just seemed rushed and not very funny.

Rito warns Lala not to be too conspicious in school, after the principal agrees to accept her after finding her cute. With weird sense of art, abnormal strength, and plain clinging on to Rito, of course lala remains conspicious. She’s an alien at heart after all. Rito’s final stab of horror is to hear Haruna mention how he and Lala look good together.

A day out is suggested by Mikan, seeing how depressed Rito is. Lala can’t walk around dressed weird though, and it takes many iterations before her dress bot can figure out what’s considered “earth clothing”. All these changes zaps energy out of it though, and before long, Lala nearly finds herself naked in the middle of the street.

They end up meeting Haruna at the clothing shop, and  at Lala’s suggestion, they all visit the aquarium together. Haruna’s moment of confession is totally ruined by Lala though. How? When Lala decides that the fishes need more energy, she feeds them energy pills. When the fishes jump out of the water, she decides that the best way to save them is to flood the entire place with her elephant gun invention. Think you can get the idea.

I didn’t laught through the whole episode. I worry about this adaptation of the manga. There could have been a million and one place where jokes could have been inserted, but weren’t. Chapter 4-9 were entirely skipped, with this episode’s material taken from Chapter 10. You don’t get any awkard moments involving Rito and other girls. (okie. so there was one scene of him crashing into the girl’s changing room, as well as falling onto Haruna’s skirt at the end) Disappointing. Even love hina was so much more familiar.

I wonder how the plot will go. Introduce all the characters in a rush, before Lala’s other suitors are introduced? I hope that come soon. Rito’s first “competitor” invovled some interesting moments for Haruna
