To Love-Ru - ep 02

Episode 2 focused on Rito trying to break his engagement with Lala. Most of the material was taken from Chapter 2 of the manga, although there was some creativity involved, in terms of how Rito gets engaged (and unengaged) to Lala.

Rito wakes up the next day to find Lala naked in his bed. Of course Lala finds nothing wrong with that, especially since a couple who is engaged should sleep together. Rito insists that Lala should get dressed, and getting engaged is something that Lala had decided on her own. Zastin arrived to inform Rito that the moment he had grabbed lala’s breast the day before, he had started the engagement process. Rito wouldn’t want earth to be attacked should he back out of the engagement would he.

In school, of course Haruna is ignoring Rito.

Rito ends up facing the wrath of all the boys in school, from jealousy, after Lala appears in schools and mentions about being together with Rito. In a bid to escape, Rito asks Lala to use her warp ring. What he doesn’t know, is that the ring only warps living things, and not their clothes. They end up falling out from the lockers in the dressing room together, just as Haruna is changing.

Rito finds out from Zastin that the only way to break the engagement is to grab Lala’s breast again within 2 days. Fate is such that he fails to succeed again. Finally, Rito settles down Lala to a heart to heart talk, where Lala reveals how she is touched by how Rito is willing to believe her and protect her. Back at home, people are all trying to marry her, and just pour her with gifts. Before Rito could add anything more, time’s up to break off the engagement.

No way to escape from Lala anymore. Rito thinks that at least Lala will not be appearing in school, only for Lala to appear as a transfer student. Nightmare!

Thoughts

Hmm… Zastin was a much funnier character in the manga, although just as stupid. By now, there should have been more fanservice shots of Haruna already. Where are they!! such a waste.

Seems like part of the original plot will be skipped/combined. It’s not too badly done so far. I guess if you just sit back and relax, the jokes are actually quite funny, even if they are very cliche. Now that LALA is in school, things should be more fun.

I think lala looks much better in her school uniform. And her costume changing scene just doesn’t seem to fit into the whole flow, even if it is fanservice-y
