Zero no Tsukaima ~ Futatsuki no Kishi Ep3

Love rival for Saito appears in the form of Julio. He’s charming enough to make Louise blush. Saito had better watch out.

The country is recruiting all male mages to join its army. Perfect opportunity for Saito right? After all, he’ll be the only guy left, being a familiar and not a mage.

WRONG. A handsome Julio arrives on the scene, having escaped the call up being a shinto priest as well. Even worse for Saito, he seems very interested in Louise. PLUS he has all the attention of the girls.

Suddenly though, agnes and her squad arrives at the academy, saying that all the female mages need physical combat training as well. At the same time, Saito gets challenged by one of the subordinates, and promptly gets trashed, since he is only using a wooden sword. (he can only use weapons meant for battle)

Things get problematic when Julio decides to choose Louise as his sparring partner. Of course, Saito gets jealous. Cut a long story short, both end up having a duel the next morning using wooden swords. A kiss from Louise acts as the prize.

Saito ends up getting intensive training from Agnes that night. Saito learns nothing though, except to taunt his opponent and take advantage of openings.

As a side story, Louise mistakes what the 2 of them are doing as flirting, and ends up scolding and beating Saito up the whole night.

The fight is hear, but the taunting does not work. Instead, Saito gets taunted. However, surprisingly Julio loses the fight.

However, Saito is pissed off though, and stomps off without his kiss, knowing full well that Julio let him win.

Suddenly they are called to gather by the queen, and find out that actually Julio and Agnes and the duo Zeros are to work together. Seems like Julio was there just to test them out only after all!

Thoughts

Totally boring. Only good part was seeing Louise stutter and clamoring to give Saito the kiss that he didn’t particularly want. Otherwise utterly boring.

Either the action or the humour better come soon. And Louise should be the lead of any plot.
