Sumomomo Momomo – ep 17
We’re finally back to following the manga’s story. This episode focuses on Tenka the cat tiger assassin. The rest of the characters become sideshows.
Yup, with a little feeding, Tenka goes back to normal. He spins a story about how he has 4 other siblings and that they are now after Koushi as well. But as comrades in the battle of love, Tenka now wants to help Koushi. Koushi thinks that the story is all bollocks, but of course Momoko is totally moved by the story. This earns Tenka a stay in the house.
In the midst of drinking orange juice as comrades and getting high, Momoko appears in just a shirt after bathing. This of course makes Tenka all jealous, though Koushi does not think it’s anything good. However, Tenka does acknowledge that Momoko belongs to Koushi now. That night, he catches Momoko dressed real skimpily going into Koushi’s room. After hearing some very misleading statements, he goes crazy, totally unaware of the real situation inside the room.
Off to school the next day! Where they meet Tenka’s brother Tenchi. However, Tenchi pretends not to be the brother, putting everyone at ease. Later in school however, Sanae catches Tenka talking to Becky the ball. Seems that Tenka isn’t staying at Koushi’s house for MOmoko or to protect Koushi. It’s just to protect himself from his 4 siblings. This pisses Sanae off, who lectures him about love, linking it back to her own situation about enduring and sacrifice.
They meet Tenchi on the way home after school who launches n attack on Koushi. It’s blocked in time by Tenka though. All the real family history starts to spill out, revealing Tenka to be bullied at home, and to be the useless person who failed to assasinate Koushi, thus no longer loved by Tenchi.
Tenka then challenges Tenchi to gladiator soccer, no ball, just the aim of getting your opponent’s body into the goal. Koushi can’t tell what’s going on cause things are too fast, but everybody else can see that Tenka is getting trashed.
Just then, Tenchi reveals that Tenka had purposely lost. Tenka is much weaker, and purposely lost so that he’ll get hurt less. Though Tenka was the one who taught Tenchi martial arts, Tenka had started getting jealous and distant away from Tenchi once Tenchi become stronger. Crawling to his becky ball for comfort, “becky” starts to scold him instead. (actually, it’s just what Sanae said to him earlier) This revitalizes him, and he takes out his ultimate weapon, asking Koushi not to laugh at him.
Yup. Ultimate weapon alright. Cat toy. Tenchi falls for it totally, even though he had claimed it won’t work on someone like him. Thus he is pawned.
Momoko declares that there’ no problem with the rest of the siblings going after them, since they are a group of 5 now! (much to koushi’s horrory)
They return home to find their house on fire. (They shift to Iroha’s house tomorrow in the next episode though. That should be interesting)
Thoughts
Not enough of Iroha, Sanae and momoko. Although there are plenty of nice shots of Momoko at the start. Not that interesting a story though… need more laughs.
