Seirei no Moribito – ep4
The pace of this episode can be described as slow. However much of the plot is advanced leaving you intrigued. This episode introduces a new Shaman, Torogai.
The very start sees Torogai communicating with a water spirit. In the end though, she only got cryptic answers, even though it already took a month for the communication to take place. Guess she can’t get any more answers without a “knot” to aid communications. She did make out the word “egg”, and about how a seed has been implanted.
But the hunters of the emperors are near though. Torogai of course doesn’t miss them. Using a mud replacement technique and poison mists, she knocks both of them out. After that, she slips a letter into their bodies to be delivered to their master.
Back at the palace, the Holy Patriarch introduces Shuga to the Emperor as a man of talent. At the same time, the matter of Chagum is dealt with. A false funeral will continue to be held. As the injured Balsa couldn’t have gone far, soldiers will be sent to the forest to search for Chagum, though they would be told that they are searching for the ones who set fire to the palace. The hunters will be deployed to search in the shadows.
Meanwhile, the first prince is asking about the funeral, and about Chagum’s body. Seems that the first prince doesn’t really know what is going on, but truly does care for Chagum.
Back at the stars palace, the Holy Patriarch receives the letter Torogai wrote. It appeared that Torogai wants to tell them that they have made a mistake with regards to what exactly possessed Chagum, and wants them to act prudently until she can find out the exact answer.
Shuga suggests working with Torogai, but the HOly Patriarch insists that they do not work with Shamans. However, He does reveal about an ancient scroll written by the first star gazer on the topic, except that it’s written in ancient Yogo. He wants Shuga to concentrate on deciphering it, to which Shuga agrees.
Back at Tanda’s place, Tohya and Saya finally arrive, warning that Balsa is in danger. (of course it’s too late) Over chats with the prince, Tanda reveals that he has been friends with Balsa since she was ten, and that she became a bodyguard six years ago. Tohya and Saya were saved by Balsa as well. Very strong lady Balsa is.
Balsa asks Tanda to try and see what possesses Chagum, but seems like whatever it is, it’s too powerful for Tanda. They would have to wait for his master Torogai, who unfortunately wanders around all the time.
Chagum is obviously still a prince, when his stomach rumbles without him knowing what it meant. But soon during the meal, Torogai rushes in chanting Egg over and over again. Just as she finishes eating, she finally notices Chagum, and shouts out EGG while pointing at him.
Thoughts
There was mentions about a drought coming. I guess there’s a chance that the spirit in Chagum has something to do with it. (Obviously)
It’ll be up to Torogai and Shagum to figure out what it is though
The quality of the animation remains high. Especially in terms of the attention paid to the details. Thankfully the fight scene at the start still looked good.
Obviously Torogai is an important character, when even the Holy Patriarch knows her. As the disciple, that should make Tanda pretty powerful too right?? Torogai sure makes an interesting character. Mysterious, weird and powerful.
