Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru – 09
This was one of the top notch episode so far for me. Takako x Mizuho tickled me plenty. Yet the focus on Mariya struck a little too close to home. *sigh*
The basic story goes that the student body has voted for the student council to put up a school play during the school festival. The title of the play would be Romeo and Juliet, while Mizuho has been voted to play Romeo, and Takako to play Juliet.
With the play written by Kei, of course you end up with kissing and bed scenes, to Takako’s horror.
At the same time, Mariya has been feeling Mizuho growing right past her. Even during one confrontation with Takako, Takako delivers a reminder that what Mizuho has achieved, is due to Mizuho herself, and not Mariya. Mariya is left unable to retort, and feeling unsettled even as she has previously always been the one helping Mizuho through.
This causes Mariya to act weird. In the end, Mariya rushes to school early before everybody else. Mizuho catches up with her though, but Mariya ends up causing a commotion. In the end, Mariya ends up avoiding Mizuho the whole day.
However, in the end, Mariya meets Mizuho, and finds out that Mizuho has been searching for her the whole day to return her the script that she left at the dorm. Mariya is left reflecting how everything seems to be backwards now, with Mizuho no longer always behind her.
Back to the Mizuho’s drama rehersal though. Time for the kissing scene. After objections, Kei allows for kissing on the cheek during rehersals. However, even as Mizuho says sorry before kissing Takako, Takako ends up as red as a tomato, before promtly fainting.
The end of the episode sees Takako confronting Mariya, wanting to know what kind of a person Mizuho is exactly.
Thoughts
Question of the episode! Why was Mizuho dressed as a girl in the photos from when he was a kid!
Good to see Takako and Mizuho developing yet another step. Who can deny how cute Takako is whenever she turns tomato red. I guess she’s becoming suspicious of her own feelings already. “am i les!!”
Back to Mariya. Even at this age of old man, I’m starting to keep feeling what Mariya feels. The friend you’ve been very close to and helping, seems to be maturing beyond you and leaving for a world which you’re not part of. It’s supposed to be a good thing right? To see your friend growing. Then why does it feel so lonely.
Anyway, I’m guessing Mariya is too beginning to see Mizuho as something more than a childhood friend, and that the “guy factor” is going to come into play even stronger.
Looking forward to the bed and kissing scenes in the play!
