Lucky Star - ep7 - Marimite
Whoa, an episode taking full advantage of Hirano’s voice talent. The episode starts off with a killer parody of Konata falling in love with Marimite and behaving like one, including the ultimate yuri scene of adjusting Tsukasa’s ribbon.
After Konata essentially made Kagami want to puke, she reminds everybody that she won’t be obsessed enough to cosplay as well, especially since she already works in a cosplay cafe. Further complaints about how baseball keeps eating into her anime time slots, and how she can’t get anime cable.
Next sees Miyuki complaining about all the follow up visits required by the dentist. This sees Konata appearing and giving her Yuri routine again. This includes Taniguchi being bullied and named Sebestian the butler. But Tsukasa is utterly amazed to see Miyuki reply to Konata in the same way, and how Miyuki just seems to fit in and it feels so normal.
Kuroi starts mentioning about their goals and major, causing Kagami to ponder. Of course, Konata takes the chance to pounce on Kagami, pointing out That Kagami was the one who chose the arts class simply to be in the same class with everyone else.
After school reveals Konata having to redo her summer homework, thanks to following Yui’s advice about putting random answers. Konata asks for help from Yui again, but logically explains that if Yui helps, Konata will probably have to do it yet again.
Procrastinating Konata sees her watching strawberry panic!
Miyuki appears the next day without glasses, after sitting on them as part of her clumsy routine. And no, she doesn’t look any sexier or cuter without specs.
She borrows notes from both Konata and Tsukasa. But ends up having to borrow from Kagami in the end, since their notes weren’t very helpful.
The chocolate cornet returns, this time with added references to a Kagami with a fat bottom butt. Additional discussion on diets sees Konata referencing that girls on diet often lose weight in places that they want to lose the least.
A discussion about how without glasses, one might look mature, brings out the theory that it’s because your eyes are thinner. Hence everybody tries to emulate and become more mature looking.
The twins + Konata hang out, talking about the upcoming cultural festival and sports day. Konata has to be the most athletic otaku Kagami knows, surprising combination. But such things do not interest Konata. Especially if she has to stay back after school preparing for the festivals and miss the evening animes.
Next sees Konata mentioning that she’s preparing curry chicken for dinner. Tsukasa points out that Curry taste better when left overnight, which Konata experiments with for lunch the next day. Konata reports back the next day with mould in the curry.
Since Konata is left with cornet for lunch again, she mentions the difference between bentos prepared by Tsukasa and Kagami. Kagami is obviously the one who can’t cook. *makes pots explodes*
New phone for Tsukasa! But she doesn’t avoid the topic of not knowing how to use her phone, even after trying to distract everybody by showing off her Keroro strap. Unfortunately for her, her phone gets confiscated immediately in class, after it rings.
After school sees an overly concerned father who calls up Tsukasa asking about her whereabouts, even though he just called Kagami 30 seconds earlier.
Konata’s method of choosing hard to guess emails. “Ilovemegamigirls”
Tsukasa’s phone doesn’t last long though, being sacrificed in the washing machine. Keroro luckily survived though.
Kagami is surprised to see Tsukasa crying after reading a manga that Konata lent. Not surprising however, is the fact that the manga is actually super funny to Konata instead. Same favorite manga, just for different reasons.
Konata is asked why doesn’t she join the manga club, and proceeds to show off her wonderful drawing skills, including a Kagami that breathes fire.
Nope. No Akira in twin tails. But you have another surprise instead….
Thoughts
Would a person like Konata like an anime like Marimite??
Small complaint about how in scenes with only the head of the characters, Konata stands at the same height as Kagami. I though Konata was way shorter.
But besides that, this episode was filled with many adorable facial expressions from each character! Drool-worthy. Kinda moving away from short punch lines, to more anime-like humour too.

In my opinion, this is by far the funniest Episode of “Lucky Star”;
Starting off with Konata-chan’s marimite reference thing, followed by Konata’s mental image of Kagami looking like the chocolate cornet ^^ and to end it the Lucky Channel segment was the funniest, what with the sign just dropping and their both silent, Akira looks more pissed off than ever.
