Lucky Star - ep15
Spring break is over, with new (or not quite new) classes. Yutaka and Minami end up in the same class as well. Let’s all sit and watch the Cherry blossoms fall
Miyuki and Tsukasa are Konata’s best friends now, after winning the chance to buy concert tickets, (as compared to herself and Kagami who lost). However, Kagami shows her what a good friend she is, after switching seats with Konata, when konata’s front view is blocked by a giant. Konata is touched and totally lost for words for a long time. Awwww (admittedly, she could have been amazed at the concert, but i prefer my interpretation)
Goldfish. Remember the goldfsh that Kagami won at the spring festival? It’s gigantic now. Konata feeds her horrifying thoughts like eating the goldfish, and how pets reincarnate as humans to help you. (gah! fat future husband!) Feeding the fish at night, the goldfish trashes around when fed too little, giving kagami horrified thoughts about abused wife.
Allergies is what Konata’s dad has. Masks would help, especially in making him more suspicious looking.
Konata and Kuroi are bored enough to call people up to tell lies on april’s fool. Konata starts by telling Kagami that she finished her homework. Kuroi scares Konata about overwriting her save game. Tsukasa tells a lie about lying.
Konata’s dad tries to tell Konata about him remarrying, but does not get much of a response from Konata.
Who wants to be a millionaire again! Everybody’s excited when they know the answer, and all quiet when they don’t know. (I’ll bet Kagami’s the only smart one)
The 3 chat about visiting miyuki’s house, imagining about how she’ll have a big mansion with pets etc, which she doesn’t. But Miyuki does invite her neighbour over as well (who does have pets and all those stuff). Guess who.
First day of school! Bad hair day a symptom of how you just can’t get used to waking u early!
Once again, Kagami is in a class of her own again, even though she tries to pretend she is okay about it. We’re finally introduced to Kagami’s classmates, who have been in the same class as her since middle school. But seems like they are of no significance to Kagami.
Kuroi of course oversleeps as well. Secretly whispered insults by Konata earns her a bump on her head.
Meanwhile, Yutaka makes a failure but crazy of a self-introduction. She is left wondering if this is part of Yui’s influence.
Konata da capo.
Makes you wanna puke, but strangely attractive at the same time.
Konata leads Yutaka and Minami to the nurse office. Except that after 3 years in the school, she doesn’t know where it is.
Konata sleeps in class again bigger bump on the head. But at least she manages some unreadable scribbles in an attempt to note down important stuff in class.
It’s 2am… time to see who is online…. Kuroi sensei of course! Who can’t wait to see if Konata sleeps in class the next day again.
Lucky Channel
Cheerful Akira is back, who scares Shiraishi with an april’s fool about ep15 being his last episode. Anyway, seems that the producer promises an akira concert next episode.
More Shiraishi pumping and singing for the ED!
Thoughts
Heee… I don’t think I can’t get enough of Shiraishi doing the ED.
I either went with a big awwwww or just kept laughing. Of course, the da capo parody kept my jaw open right through the entire duration. That was a stunner.
I’m falling in love with Kagami more and more, especially with this episode. Such an interesting yet strong character. And of course, konata’s more and more like me. Those unreadable scribblings while sleeping in class? Yeah, totally me man.
(Of course, one of the strong point of this series is how the plots revolves around things that everybody can relate to. Ahh such sweet memories)

Lucky Star is becoming more and more accessible that even commoners with few knowledge of Japanese pop-culture references could somehow dig it.

I loved episode 15–the Da Capo segment had me laughing out loud, I can’t believe they even got permission to use the actual OP from the first series. Unlike Hayate no Gotoku, where it feels like I’m missing 90% of the references to other things, with Lucky Star I’ve seen most of what they refer to, which makes it more funny.

Ha. I totally agree about that comparison with Hayata no Gotoku, not that Hayate’s a bad series

The author of this page suggested that when Kagami gave Konata her seat so she could see the concert that she was lost for words in the sense that she’s touched that Kagami could be such a great friend but to me, and this is just MY opinion, but it almost looks as though Konata is feeling a bit depressed about her height, and finds now that it’s affecting her more than she lets on.
