Lucky Star - ep 14
As mentioned previously, due to various reasons that apply only to my country, I’m subcontracting out part of the blogging. Thanks to my friend *kooriyuki* for helping me do write up on entries! Here’s the first one.
Starting off we have our most unlikely policewoman doing the most likely thing - dangerous driving. Yui sends her younger sister, Yutaka off to Konata’s house to stay as Yutaka will be starting her high school which is nearer to Konata’s house. Yutaka is wearing her middle school uniform as casual wear to Konata’s house!
Konata is as easy going as usual having her cousin staying together, but her father is secretly excited about it. And we learn about the handkerchief girl (who reminds me of Yuki in SHnY). Yutaka is happy about making a new friend, but Yui and Konata points out the many what ifs such that Yutaka may not meet the hankerchief girl anymore. And it goes on to show how moe Yutaka is.
Yutaka looks abit sick, and Yui thinks it’s because she’s weak naturally, but never realise how bad her driving actually is. Konata concludes that Yutaka is a walking example of moe-ness, just like Miyuki.
First day at Konata’s house. Yutaka woke up and saw Konata at her computer, thinking on a non school day, Konata nee chan still wakes up so early, only to find out Konata pulled an all-nighter gaming and is about to sleep only. Yet Yutaka thinks it’s exciting being a totally different environment.
Miyuki and Kagami were out together, and being high school students one year away from university entrance exams, they were complaining how cram schools will always call and ask if they want to attend. Miyuki told Kagami one can actually pick out the calls from cram schools, since the numbers were unlisted. Kagami went home and alas, the house phone is those old fashioned ones with no caller ID display. Meanwhile Miyuki reached home, only to see her mom on phone talking happily away. It turns out to be just a telemarketer, and her mom was in the mood to chat, so end up talking for an hour plus. -.-ll
Konata and the twins were out together, and Konata was having sort of a fit because she didn’t have enough points to exchange for a new item. (I can fully understand her feelings. Hoho.) Off to a cafe/restaurant the trio went, and Tsukasa pointed out why are restrooms usually located near the smoking areas. Konata went on to explain, and at the same time teased Kagami due to her lack of working experience.
Back at Konata’s household, news had it that a paedophile is on the loose and Konata tells Yukata to be careful. Konata’s dad’s exclaimed he understood what the perpetrator thinks, or does he? He’s just jealous. Hoho. And as usual Yukata is lost in this weird household.
Konata spends a day at the twin’s place, only to find herself feeling empty because Kagami was not around. And a little trip back to Konata’s childhood proved Kagami’s theory wrong about Konata knows only a shounen animes and games, when it’s actually the contrary.
Back at the twin’s household, the family was watching “Who wants to be a Millionaire?” and were all anxious to know if the contestant made it or not, only to see some commercial coming up. Tsukasa has a little theory to know if the contestant has made it based on the amount of time left when the last commercial is scheduled to show during the program.
The twins go to Konata’s house, and meet Yukata for the first time. The girls were then reminiscing about middle school graduation. Did anyone obtain the second button from your crush’s winter uniform during graduation? Poor Yukata was always sick hence she has no crush, and furthermore her school’s uniform for guys are blazer (so sad. The traditional Japanese schools’ guys uniform is nicer imo ^^).
Konata asks to see Yukata’s year book, and the first thing she did was to flip to the end to see the list of absentees before asking for Yukata’s class. Since her uniform is very normal looking and she’s now staying far away from her middle school, Yukata saves her blazer to wear as part of her wadrobe. The twins gave theirs away to neighbours who are their juniors, and Konata, keeps to cosplay. This segment continues on to differences between middle school and high school, and how Kagami would like to visit her alma matas again.
Yui comes along and being very absent minded and not very law abiding (oxymoronic policewoman), she tries to persuade the girls to go drinking in celebration of Yukata’s passing of high school entrance exam.
And Yukata saw something she’s not used to at Konata’s house…
Disneyland trip? Yukata went with her school before as a field trip and Konata was wondering if Yukata passed the height limit for taking rides.
Yukata is wowed by Konata after she lies about making her own bentos. This piles on incredible pressure onto Konata, until she remembers the type of sister that cousin Yui is. (Not every older sister has to be perfect like Kagami!)
Lucky Channel
Akira is very very pissed. She rattles on and on ignoring Shiraishi and lashes at him when he tries to butt in, but becomes the honey sweet Akira when she launches her campaign “Let Akira have more screen time in the actual show”. And oh, apparently according to Akira, the producers changed the name of Lucky Channel to Lucky Paradise!
ED
Shiraishi is at it again. This time he kongfued to Hare Hare Yukai. Pure madness.
Thoughts
Yutaka is voiced by Hasegawa Shizuka. I don’t particularly like it, but it suits the role well.
Is Yutaka going to be wearing new ribbons everyday??
New characters definitely inject new air to the show… but we need more of Kagami!

Minami, the handkerchief girl, shares the same VA of Yuki Nagato.
