Lucky☆Star – ep04 – Cosplay

I conclude that by the first joke, you’ll know if you’ll enjoy the show. Last episode Tsukasa made me die laughing, setting the tone for the whole episode. This episode started off with a sleepy Konata, which was just so not funny. In fact, I found the entire episode totally draggy. I wonder if the fact that I had an exam paper in the afternoon had anything to do with it.

First joke starts with a totally sleepy Konata, when called upon to present a problem in front of the class, immediately denies that she was sleeping, even before sensei could say anything.

Tsukasa borrowing a textbook from Kagami leads to a discussion of how Konata solves the problem by leaving all the books in school. Immediate excuse for Konata to borrow homework from Kagami. Kagami asks why Konata doesn’t borrow from Miyuki since she’s their classmate. Konata replies along the lines of Miyuki being too Moe.

Late for class Konata is. Excuse? She couldn’t leave her party in her MMO. Late from class again! Excuse? Playing galge. (Kanon to be exact) Third time Konata really falls sick, but is caught for crying wolf.

Tsukasa then states that Konata must breathe through the nose, since she got a throat infection. Cause otherwise, bacteria would have entered through her nose instead and caused a nose infection. Of course nobody trusts her. (Actually, my doctor told me the same thing. I’ve got a habit of breathing through the mouth thanks to a constantly blocked nose.)

The twin’s birthday party! Konata intially doesn’t want to go over due to the heat, until she hears of the cookies being baked. Miyuki buys them matching earings. Konata? Cosplay uniforms. (very expensive too) ZYL has a great article on Lucky Star cosplay, and I totally agree with him.

Konata praises the cookies midway, until Kagami mentions that she bakes some too. At which Konata decides that some of the cookies don’t taste so great after all. Cutting the cake nearly results in a discussion of HOW to do it. Thankfull, that didn’t happen.

Summer = swimming and festivals. Not for Konata though. Summer = Comicket (manga doujin festival) For Miyuki though, it’s yet ANOTHER trip overseas.

Flat chest girls are of value. So Konata learns after playing Shuffle! (Tsukasa is quite relieved)

Mentioning how you can’t judge a book by its cover, a parody of Deathnote sees Kagami saying that it’s totally believable for Konata to do weird things.

Konata then proceeds to demostrate how Otakus study. 10 min of studying. hours of anime and manga. Of course she reveals what everyone of us know by now. Ep 9 of Haruhi still shots of Yuki was just to save money!

This leads Kagami to question why Konata likes Shounen and Galge. (totally weird for a girl). Konata answers that it’s because her father plays it infront of her since she was young. -_-”

Konata also reveals that her mom had passed away since young, and she does all the housework, so she’s pretty good at it, unlike Kagami. Tsubasa’s quite good at cooking. Miyuki’s a rich princess. Though she says she’s lousy at housework, you can’t always trust her. As for sensei…. she jokes around about how there’s always the convenient store.

Kagami seemed to have lost a little weight, and ends her diet. “no will power” says Konata. As expected, she gains kilos the very next day. (jap girls and their weight. tsk)

Lucky Channel

Taniguchi continues to be bullied, but it seems that a contest card has written in to ask Akira to try the twin tail hairstyle. Will she do it in the next episode??

ED was sung by Kagami, and was a sailor moon drama song. (i think. It was definitely a drama song instead of anime though)

Thoughts

A little too draggy. Many other small jokes that I didn’t blog about too.

The attention to detail and parodies was amazing though. But blink a little, and you’ll miss them all. Even fumoffu makes an appearance.

(yes, making fun of your own studio is funny, but there’s such a thing as over doing it) As we all know by now, next episode sees a change of director… we’ll see how things change!

Best joke? I think definitely making fun of the haruhi episode.
