I know I’m late in blogging this, but I want to vote for Manami Amamiya aka Manabi as school council president as well! Look at that face that exudes such cuteness and energy. Would you want to as well!

The storline is pretty much straight forward. The introduction sees Manabi on a train, moving to a new town. So obviously Manabi is new to the place.

Next sees a Mika who is late for her school’s swimming festival. Even as her classmates phone her urgently, she is met by Manabi. Manabi does not know the way to school, and after dragging Mika onto her hoverboard, flies recklessly to school.

In actual fact, Mika was persuaded to take part in the swimming festival for her class even though she can’t swim. And thus was quite happy that Manabi would be willing to take her place. But nobody could have expected how interesting the “manabi style” of swimming would be.

Fast forward to the next day, sees Mika in a totally messed up student council room. We find out later that she’s the only member of the student council. Soon it’s time for elections time though. After gathering much courage, Mika finally succeeds in going onto stage, and making a grand speech. However, in the end nobody still wants to join the student council.

In flies Manabi, who declares her desire to be the school council president. However, that idea is shot down by the school principle, who remembering Manabi’s antics from the day before, gives the reason that Manabi is too new in school.

Manabi continues to gives speeches, but of course, the audience only falls further asleep, until she goes on stage and start seeing the school song. She only heard the school song once during the swimming festival, but her singing moved the entire student body to make her council president.

Thoughts

At first I was wondering whether Manabi was really an alien, because of her hoverboard. Then I found out that the setting for the show was in 2035.

The background of the show is indeed very interesting, with the scenario of falling birthrates causing totally disinterest in school activities, and students doing stuff like part time work. No wonder every thing just sounded so wrong compared to your typical anime. haha

But damn… the animation style s just cute overload. If nothing, the series is worth watching just to get your weekly dose of cuteness! Aiyee!!

Oh yeah, this series is voice by many notable seiyuus, including horie yui and aya hirano. Woo.
