It was too dark for them to tell who was attacking them. It was only then the fight ended and everybody started talking that they figured it out. Basically, Tabitha and Kirche had a mission to get rid of the water spirit. While Saito had a mission to get rid of those attackers (tabitha and kirche) Since Saito launched a 'surprise attack', it took Tabitha and Kirche quite a while to recognise him. (doesn't make much sense, but that's the way the anime is) Oops, I guess I wasn’t very clear.

Did Saito appeared differently on their eyes..like Saito appeared like a water demon or something? i mean knowing Kirche as soon as she sees Saito she goes into this "Darling" act that she does. i dont get it, why Tabitha and Kirche attack Saito?
