Tokimeki Memorial - ep 03
Things to do with your new-found BF. 1) Walk home from school 2) Send plenty of text messages 3)make a love bento for him. Except nobody told Tsukasa not to force everything onto Aoba.
Aoba walks around in school with girls staring at him thinking he’s a playboy, while guys are staring at him in jealousy. Leaving the gate, he meets Tsukasa who has been waiting for him. Walking home together, Tsukasa receives a message, and when reading it, starts to drag Aoba running to the train station. There, she announces that she’s very glad to be able to walk home with him, but now she has to go back to school for volleyball practise. Oh, and she realises that they haven’t exchanged names yet. After Tsukasa leaves, Aoba realises that he can’t go back from the train station either.
At volleyball practise, Tsukasa asks her friend for advice with regards to a relationship. Thus she gets the advice as stated above. Next day, Aoba reaches school only to receive grudge letters in his shoebox. But never mind that, Tsukasa soon appears to ask Aoba for his phone contact, and requests that Aoba message her that night. Seemingly innocent actions, but Aoba ends up getting a barrage of messages in the middle of class, attracting the attention of everybody.
During lunch, Aoba finds himself more grudge letters. Tsukasa arrives to invite him for lunch, with the bento she prepared. It’s full of heathfood, looking absolutely green. Aoba nearly faints eating it, and so does the chick, but forces himself to say that it’s nice. He is saved though, when his friends arrive.
In class, Aoba complains about the food to his friends. Thus the legend of Amamiya is shared once again, about the golden chocolate banana that she made for cultural festival. All these is overheard by Tsukasa’s friend in class, who asks Tsukasa to taste her own bento. Only then did Tsukasa realise that her own bento tasted like paint.
Thus Tsukasa decides to skip volleyball practice, surprising everyone. Instead, she goes to the Home Econs club, and request for guidance from the sensei there. Even the school nurse gets in on the action, who finds Aoba looking very moody. Seems like Aoba is surprised that Tsukasa has been leaving him alone, but the nurse assures him that Tsukasa will be back soon. Of course, Tsukasa comes back, and cooks a marvelous bento for Aoba. Tsukasa’s joy is amazing, as she compares it to winning.
Later after school, it starts raining. Running into the bicycle shelter, he meets Mina, whom he has met before in the library. She offers him her handkerchief when he starts sneezing, and obviously has a crush on him. So starts a new beginning.
Thoughts
Hmm. Surprise! No Aoba running away from crowds this time.
Actually, I’m appreciating this series more. Though Tsukasa’s actions were pretty normal on one hand, the exaggerated way she did it made things quite cute too. So the overall humour level was quite good, without getting cliché.
In fact, I’m beginning to like Tsukasa quite a bit. It’ll be such a pity if this was all we saw of her. Next up will be an episode on Mina!
