Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru – 05
Do ghost sleep? Can ghosts touch and hold things? What issues does Ichiko have that turned her into a ghost. All these and more answered in this episode.
For some reason, Mariya is entirely not surprised by the fact that Ichiko is a ghost, probably convinced on seeing her floating. The same can’t be said for Yukari though, who faints and develops a fever after seeing Ichiko pass through Mariya.
Now that Ichiko is going to be hanging around Mizuho, Mariya decides that it is time Ichiko knew the truth about Mizuho. This is done by lifting Mizuho’s skirt.
But Ichiko is not traumatized at all. In fact, she’s very excited to have a guy onee-sama, and wants to marry Mizuho.
In class, Mizuho’s obviously troubled, and Shion asks if she’s alright. Their classmate suddenly appears to congratulate Mizuho for a job well done. However, Mizuho has no idea what she’s talking about, yet Mizuho is not going to approach her to ask.
Back at the dorm, Ichiko is blocked from leaving the dorm by an invisible barrier at the door. The barrier exists at the roof as well. No choice but to wait until Mizuho comes back.
Ichiko then visits Yukari…. Though Yukari was super afraid initially, all things turn out well after she sees Ichiko crying. In the end, it’s all a one big happy family.
The next day, Mizuho asks about Ichiko’s onee-sama. Ichiko’s recollation somehow reminded Mizuho of his memories of his mom. Intrigue, Mizuho goes to the school library to look for information, where he meets Takako. Takako leads him to information of previous elders that the School council had collected, but turns totally pale when Mizuho says that he is researching about ghosts.
Suddenly, Mizuho catches sight of his mother, and he chases after her, until she finally disappears. This is when Mizuho suddenly realises that he is studying where his mom studied, walking where his mom walked, living in the same room as his mother did.
Returning back to the dorm, Mizuho finds Ichiko crying in the closet. Seems that she’s afraid that she’ll fall asleep and miss Mizuho, just like she did 22 years ago. Mizuho totally understands how lonely Ichiko has been
That night, he decides to bring ichiko out, which works because he is touching her. Going to a chapel, Ichiko reveals that she has always wanted to go to a chapel with her onee-sama, and take the wedding vows. Mizuho then reveals that they share the same memories, and that he is actually Ichiko’s onee-sama’s son. He kisses her on the forehead, just like the onee-sama used to do.
Suddenly Ichiko rises up in a flood of orange light. Probably because her wishes were fulfilled. On the way back, Mizuho meets mariya, who tries to comfort Mizuho. But surprise surprise, they find Ichiko waiting for them when they return back to the dorm.
Thoughts
It’s really good that Ichiko came back, she’s really the live of the dorm and the anime. Speaking as fast as a bullet train.
I screwed up last episode. I forgot that it was mentioned that Mizuho’s mom attended the same school, thus it couldn’t have been his father. Which makes you wonder what his grandpa was thinking.
Quite fun and entertaining the episode was.
Actually, i find Ichiko’s pose of two hands in front of her quite scary. haha. And whatever happened to Takako… she’s like this all nice person who is totally scared of ghost.
……..Why did Mizuho have long hair when he was young? Not that there’s anything wrong with guy’s having long hair, but I would’ve thought the producers would try to get the fact across that Mizuho is a guy more clearer, unless he’s actually a girl >.>
He looked like a kid right from a child, and as teenager, looks like the ultimate princess.
Seems to me the producers can’t figure out whether they wanna make a strawberry panic type show, or to make more jokes out of Mizuho being a guy.
Hey, he’s even voiced by a female seiyuu (though that’s not uncommon), people look up his skirts with no problem.
Other than him actually saying he is a guy, it’s hard to believe so.
