Blood+ - ep 44
Looks like the series is going to have another mini twist with regards to the sif. While I don’t particularly mind, it does make the story a little draggy. Unless the Shifu ends up playing some major role in the end.
In a New York apartment, Julia is explaining all that she knows about Diva’s children. Generally speaking, they have no idea when the children will be born either. To lewis however, it’s simply a case of if the twins are born, there will be more enemies, and Saya promises to kill Diva before that happens. Meanwhile, they’ll look forward to Saya’s recovery, but the same can’t be said for David, who will be in hospital for another month. It is then that Julia notices lulu sitting on the window beside her.
Lulu chats with Saya and Hagi, chatting about how wonderful Okinawa is. Lulu then mentions that her birthplace is a place of ice and rocks. Guessing that Hagi was born in a castle setting, Hagi explains that he’s actually the child of a family of travellers. 7pm! Time for TV says Lulu.
Meanwhile, Lewis explains to Julia who Lulu is, saying that Lulu seems to be coming over without the rest of the Shifu knowing. Walking in then, Kai explains that the Shifu are no longer enemies, and that Lulu is actually quite welcomed. But the shock that Julia had was actually that the shifu were actually still alive. Explaining, Julia says that the Thorn in the Shifu was actually a design defect, and improvements on the Shifu produced the Corpse Corps. Using Diva’s blood, they are able to control the appearance of Thorn in the Corpse corps. With regards to whether Saya’s blood could be used, research would have to be done. The problem was that it would take a long time, and Julia isn’t sure if the Shifu will live until that long.
Kai brings a bag of blood along and meets up with moses. Moses apologises for troubling Kai, but Kai says that it’s okie, since he has been doing it for Saya and Hagi anyway. Moses also apologises that lulu keeps going over to disturb them. It’s not that lulu has forgotten what she needs to do, but Lulu is trying very hard to live. Once again, Moses thanks Kai for befriending Irene, and trying to understand. But it only invokes memories of Irene in Kai, who wishes that he had met Irene earlier. Similarly, Moses wonders what would have happened if there was somebody like Kai at Khirbet, then their lives might have changed too. Moses says that he wishes to be born at Kai’s side in the next life, but Kai feels he shouldn’t be talking like that while he’s still alive. Moses comments that because of the Thorn, the fear of Death is aways there, but while they are alive, they will continue to fight against Diva. It is then that Kai mentions that they know something, and feels that isn’t fair not to let the shifu know.
Meanwhile, Lulu returns to the shifu abandoned place, but only karmen is there. Karmen can tell where Lulu has been to, and tells Lulu not to go there anymore. Lulu protests saying that everyone there is nice, and so is TV, and next time they should go there together too. Karmen responds by throwing his weapon at Lulu. Karmen does not want Lulu to interact with the humans, because they are fundamentally different. At the end of the day, there are just the 3 of them shifu left. At this point, Moses returns, and Karmen scolds Moses for meeting up with Kai. Moses comments that Kai is trustworthy and nice. Besides, as long as Kai continues to supply blood, they wouldn’t have to hunt down and hurt humans. Shifu and Men can even live together, but Karmen responds that he is able to hunt down his own food, and not everybody is like Kai and company.
Sucking on one of the packets of blood, Lulu tells moses that she wants to go to okiwana, to visit the nice beaches and all. Kai and the rest will be returning back there after everything is over. But kamen interrupts, saying it wouldn’t happen, besides, if they live for their dreams, they will only get hurt. Lulu states that recently, she’s being thinking that maybe, just maybe, they wouldn’t die after all. This angers Karmen, who grabs hold of her. But this causes his hood to drop, which reveals that karmen has gotten the thorn. Karmen just leaves without saying a word. Lulu tries to go after him, but goes the wrong way. Outside, James seems to have been waiting.
Saya comments that both the shifu and them all talk and watch tv, so they arn’t very different. Kai replies that as long as they understand one another, they can be friends. Saya comments that Kai totally sounds like their father, and that he’s very amazing as while she can only fight, Kai tries to understand the enemy. Kai replies that Saya is doing the thing she can do, while he’s able to do what he does because he believes in the friends around him. Suddenly, Lulu appears begging that they help to find Karmen.
Meanwhile, Karmen is taking shelter in a back alley, even as the sun rises. “Talking” to Irene, Karmen is scared of dying and cannot understand why he’s so scared of dying, even though he has never understood the meaning of living.
Inside a hospital, a nurse is walking. Suddenly, Karmen appears and catches hold of her, intending to suck her blood. Suddenly at the end of the hallway, Irene appears. Then there’s more, in fact, it’s all the shifu who have died. Just as he runs towards them, they disappear, leaving a basket of flowers where they were. But with it being in the sun, he cannot reach out to it at all.
Meanwhile, Moses is thinking about what Kai had told me way earlier. That there’s a chance of curing their Thorn using the blood of Diva. Kai had also invited the shifu to join them, so that Julia can look them over, and see if a cure is possible. To kai, the Shifu are friends.
Just as Moses is reflecting on the idea of friends, James appears, asking if it’s alright that Moses is not looking for his friend. A fight breaks out, with James shooting spikes from his hands just like Karl. James admits that it’s the hand of a shifu. James explains that he did not die as he was rescued before Saya’s blood course through his whole body. Ripping his shirt, he reveals that his body is part Shifu. James argues that it’s possible that Diva’s blood can be used to stop the Thorn, offering himself as edvidence. James wants to persuade Moses to join them, but Moses refuses to bow down to them. James leaves with a note that pride alone cannot stop the Thorn.
Later, everybody gathers having failed to find Karmen, but sets off again. Kai asks Lulu to stay at the apartment however, as the sun is rising. Lulu thanks them sincerely before they leave. Back at the Shifu’s place, Moses finds Karmen at the rooftop. Karmen explains how he met the rest of the Shifu, and now knows that they continue to reside in his memory. Just like Irene, Karmen is scared of dying without anybody remembering him, and asks that Moses continue to keep him in his memory. Karmen appears to intend to commit suicide staying in the sun, but Moses grabs him into the shade, cuddling together.
Thoughts
I’m guessing Lulu will fight on Saya’s side. From the preview, obviously Moses went over and come back to kill Kai, in exchange for a cure of the thorn.
Like I said, a little draggy. Would everyone return to Okinwana? I can’t imagine how Lulu can possibly travel in an aircraft all the way there.
All this repeating themes of Okiwana and memories. I wonder how it’ll all conclude.

I love Moses! The ending is so sad. However, I will not spoil it for those who have not seen it. Moses is awesome though!
