Blood+ - ep 39
New OP and ED, and the beginning of the New York story arc. A few tender moments shared over a fishing trip. As well as an interesting, subtle and dangerious moment shared between Joel and Amshel.
First off… I must say… I dislike the OP and ED. Sure, the animation is nice, but songs itself…. are a drastic change from what the Blood+ songs are usually like, and I am a fan of the songs chosen. Maybe… hopefully… i’ll grow onto them i guess.
The show starts off with Okamura and Lewis spying on Amshel. Thanks to solomon, they now know that he is a cheveliar, and the leader. However, how are they going to confirm that he’s a cheveliar? Lewis reveals he has information that somebody wants to assasinate Amshel. And right on cue, the waiter takes out his pistol and fires 2 shot at Amshel.
At gray’s house, Saya is woken up by some noise, and immediately reaches for her sword. But there’s actually no danger near by. In the kitchen, everybody is discussing about a fishing trip. As Saya appears, asks if she would join them for the fisihing trip too, and Kai asks as well. Surprisingly, Saya does agree.
Gray tries to teach Kai how to fish. To go with the flow of the water. That things will go well if you think simply. Kai nearly succeeds in bagging a big one, but a momentary glance at Saya caused the fish to escape. Another lesson for Kai. To the fish, it’s fighting for it’s life. where there’s a will, it will find a way.
Meanwhile, an old friend of Joel’s exclaims his name loudly, drawing everybody’s attention, as the Goldschmidt family has influence in the whole financial sector. Even Van is surprised, and wonders if he is the head of the Red Shield. Amshel then comes over to have a conversation with Joel. (too many subtle hints in the conversation, too tough for me to recount)
As the evening arrives, Saya is floating in an ethereal world. She feels that she’s hugging something… and there’s also the smell of autumn. She opens her eyes, and in shock, finds Kai carrying her. She immediately forces him to put her down. Looking into the sunset, it reminds Kai of Okiwana.
Though Kai says that he will not change, Saya feels that he has become stronger. Saya is also sorry about how things have turned out. But Kai reminds Saya of nankurunaisa (everything will work out in the end). Saya is Saya, part, present and tomorrow, and not to forget, she will always be Kai’s family, and that he loves her.
Next morning, everybody packs to leave for New York, with everybody’s eyes on Saya as she prepares to leave.
